Welcome to the Massachusetts Clubhouse Coalition (MCC)

The MCC is a non-profit organization dedicated to helping people with long term mental health issues in Massachusetts find and secure employment, housing, education, mental health services and other services and supports in the community.  Our membership includes over 15,000 Massachusetts residents with serious and persistent mental illness and the staff of 32 community-based vocational rehabilitation centers called “clubhouses”.  Operating as a clearinghouse of information, a provider of technical assistance, a vehicle for community organizing and a coordinator of resources, the MCC provides a forum for strategic planning and action to collectively improve the quality of and access to community supports.  We help our member clubhouses expand rehabilitative opportunities while promoting the leadership of individuals who have disabilities.  Membership in the MCC is awarded to the members and staff of MA clubhouses once the club achieves certification from the International Center for Clubhouse Development (ICCD).

A “clubhouse” is a place where people who have mental illness come to rebuild and/or regain control of their social and economic lives.  An important aspect of the clubhouse model is relationships between staff and members and between individual members. Clubhouses are run jointly by “members” and staff, who work side-by-side, in a unique partnership to ensure the work of the clubhouse is completed each day.  Work and paid employment are recognized and valued as a vital part of recovery from mental illness.  Members do not live at the clubhouse but use it as a base of community and peer support in their efforts to recover from the effects of mental illness.  Toward this end, clubhouses engage in activities that help our members live successfully in the community.

Massachusetts Clubhouse Members earned over $10,000,000
